Took my 16' AT DCT and ran many of the Baja1000 tracks on the west coast. Rode w/ two 690's, left those in the dust in deep sand hoops w/ the DCT. Building up another XR650R for short distance desert but the CRF1000 is great for some slab, some offroad etc. You need some IRC TR8 battle rally for the front. Heavy carcass, great for highway speed and grip. I just run Slime and never had a puncture.

This is about 4 years late, but the enduro tech 7's are waterproof and the enduros are also lighter than the regular tech 7's. Neither of those would be used for motocross. They are adventure boots (and I actually use them for touring because touring boots suck for protection). Motocross is another level up. Great video though. The reason the regular tech 7's exist is for people who live in hotter climates and want cooler (but wetter) feet which you get from not having the drystar lining.

I have a 701 and a klr. And the klr is 10 times worse in the dirt than my 701. The 701 enduro is just a dirtbike with blinkers

The stock carb is the best carb for on and off road riding,I’m 67 and have been racing all my life believe me the stock carb is the best for the 650l just take your time on getting it jetted and do not drill out your slide it’s made to perform the way it is you don’t need it to open faster

I think your comments are right on about the XR and the African twin I believe the Africa twin is too big and too heavy to be a real off-road motorcycle maybe Fire Road something light or for the super experienced rider but the xr650r needs to be reincarnated with some upgrades as far as power and forks and maybe some Modern electronic trash control also maybe a aluminum frame upgrade larger tank maybe some fuel injection if you would wish and also an electric start would be great I think it would be a winner

All you have to do is look at the weight of the Adventure bikes and you’ll see the negative but only if you ride in places where weight matters. Bombing down dirt roads it don’t matter.

Great comparison. I'm seriously thinking of scaring up a BRP even 4 years later. But it's poor mileage isn't because of that massive piston. It's because technology has passed it by. KTM's even larger, more powerful 690 gets over 50mpg.

So many of you Californians have moved to my state (CO), they're doing same sh't here now. If you don't renew your registration, they charge you a fee every month you don't renew. Only cars and MCs... for now. This state is beyond saving at this point, so Californian migrants, please leave your sh'tty habits in CA when you leave. Otherwise, you'll just turn your new home into the sh'tty home you just fled.

If its still a reliable bike 150cc and up i would pay the 900 and then its 150 a year after that. Its a cheap extra vehicle just dont waste your time with anything under 150cc

The thing about having these two bikes only have one problem to me, becouse since 2000 i´ve ride my XR when and where i wanted to from time to time. But the last time that i went for a ride on the 650R after having the AT and riding it for 4000 miles was that i´ve had a awkward sensation while ridind the XR. I guess i felt no longer confident handeling the bike! Of course during the day things got more familiar again but that glimp never happened to me before even when i was like one year or less whithout riding it. Maybe its the 50´s getting near by...

Really enjoyed all your videos. Much respect from Seattle. But this one you couldn’t have been more wrong. That pumper carb has been a game changer for me. Bike runs flawlessly at all RPM’s. Probably due to a lack of air or something. Idk man.
